Pop The Musician

A character I created for the "So Bad It's Good" Game Jam. With limited experience in character art and animation, combined with a tight deadline, this project was quite a challenge. However, I'm quite fond of the final result.

Outside of the above version there are 4 more variations, this character enemy with 3 different instruments, each with their own unique animations. And the main character with all the instruments at the same time. Besides making the animations I also made all the animation behaviour in Unity, with different Avatar Masks and an Animation Controller, which helped in understanding how those work.

Rat and Wizard Art

The Rat and the Alchemist

This character was created for the Pirate Software Game Jam. My main goals were to experiment with Unity’s Cloth Component and the Unity Toon Shader to achieve a stylized look.

The Cloth Component presented some challenges. I didn’t experiment with it beforehand, which led to reworking certain aspects of the character that didn’t function as expected. Even after setting it up correctly, there were occasional issues, such as the sleeve missing a collider, revealing the arm underneath. Additionally, the unpredictable nature of cloth movement forced me to make concessions when painting shadows and ambient occlusion (AO) into the texture, as they could appear out of place during animation.

On the other hand, the Unity Toon Shader exceeded my expectations. It worked well across multiple render pipelines in Unity, which was crucial for our game jam project. However, the shader did have its limitations: it only supports shadows from the main light source, restricting our ability to create dynamic lighting effects. We originally wanted to use a central light to illuminate the walls, but this wasn't feasible with the Toon Shader. Despite this limitation, the shader provided a visually appealing stylization that was quick to implement—perfect for the time constraints of a game jam.

Scythes of the Two Headed Snake

Weapons created for a school assignment, focusing on designing in the style of World of Warcraft and hand-painting textures. Even a year later, I am still proud of how they turned out, although I believe I could improve upon them now.

Celestroid: Model Saturn

A sci-fi robot created for a school assignment, focusing on animations and hard surface modeling.
